This review is long overdue… I have a 1989 American Skier Advance tournament ski boat that I have owned since new. After roughly 1,000 hours and tons of fun, the motor seized for unknown reasons. I’d like to say it was due to neglect but having babied this thing for nearly thirty years I can say that wasn’t the case. While many boat shops weren’t interested in working on such an old boat that obviously needed a new motor, I kinda took a flyer on California Skier as they responded back quite quickly to my call. Talk about dumb luck… I met Jim in the service department and his first comment upon seeing my boat was along the lines of how well loved my boat has been! It was obvious it needed a new engine and Jim gave me the options along with his recommendations, which I appreciated from someone well versed in the business. I opted for a crate motor, a rebuilt Ford, and Jim kept me apprised throughout the process. He was conscientious of my budget and gave suggestions and his valued opinions. When I went out to Elsinore to pick it up, I had numerous mechanics and technicians come out to say hello, remark on my boat, which looked like a small dingy in comparison to the MUCH larger wakeboard boats. To me that demonstrated a genuine concern and care for my baby from more than just the service manager. Since the repair, which was June and July from this past summer, I have noticed small little details which they did, for no charge and with no fanfare…hitting the trailer lights connection with lube, checking the tandem axle trailer hubs, things like that. When they water tested my boat, they noticed some small leaks and repaired them…small things like that did not go unnoticed. After use this summer and fall I’d like to report my boat performed like when it was brand new! Exceptional customer service should be rewarded and I wanted to, perhaps out of the norm, tip the staff for such excellent service. They wouldn’t accept it! The least I could do is write them an excellent review…tardy, but here it is. I highly recommend California Skier. If in the market for a new one, which I’m not, I would purchase one from them based on their service department alone. Thanks for the great work!
